Whether it’s your first interview, or your thousandth, it is still a daunting ordeal to have to go through.
Here’s what to do and what not to do when you have your next interview with an asphalt company in Tucson Arizona.
TRY TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD
One of the main reasons for rejection after an interview is that the interviewer simply can’t remember you properly.
In other words, you failed to stand out from the crowd adequately.
But you should stop before you don the glittery threads and dye your hair blue, because this is not the kind of attention you are after.
Your interview needs to stand out for the right reasons.
This means not giving bland or vague answers to questions and defining yourself by one or two points.
Before your interview, pick one or two core skills to play to and gently remind the interviewer of these, a couple of times throughout the interview.
For example, you could mention your organizations skills, in some of the answers to the questions that you are asked.
Don’t overdo it though – you don’t want to sound like a stuck record, or worse still, a politician!
DON’T GO IN WITHOUT PREPARATION
Being ill prepared for any interview is almost certainly going to cost you the job.
Take some time to find out about the company hiring and do your research.
If you are being taken on to complete a specific project, find out all you can about it and use this knowledge to ask more questions about the role you will be in.
BE PREPARED TO EXPLAIN YOUR WORK HISTORY
Almost certainly, your interviewer will ask about your previous work history.
Make sure you don’t sound vague, or confused about your previous roles, the responsibilities you had there and the reason why you left.
AND FINALLY… ANSWER THE QUESTION
You would be surprised how many candidates simply fail to answer the questions they have been asked in an interview.
It is too easy to waffle on, vaguely, or allow nerves to get the better of you.
If you don’t understand the question, ask for clarification, but don’t ever evade the question!
